Welcome everybody, to the first episode of Cities of the NEW Server. This episode, I visited the city of Sparta, one of the northern most cities on the server.
Sparta is a relatively small city (as of now), that is located very far north.
LOCATION: 2092, -7635
I first visited Sparta on Christmas Eve, after everybody had went to bed, and I wanted to see thee_pro's house in person. I had to take a brutal journey from Cydonia to this town. When I finally arrived, I was surprised by the beauty of some of the builds here.
Since I like to end on a positive note, I will talk about what I did NOT like first. There is not really much wrong with this town, but the few flaws are obvious. The trip to the town is absolutely ridiculous, it is dangerous, and it is really not worth it if you are just planning to visit. The only other problem is that this town is pretty reclusive as far as I know.
Now that I got that out of the way, it is time for the positives of this town.
The first thing I saw in this town was thee_pro's mansion, which is by far one of the best houses I have ever seen. Thee, well done. This town's theme is that of ancient Rome. While the theme is not very strict (thee's house is not Roman at all, if anything, it would have been perfect in Robur), it is very evident.
This town does not really have an "organizational pattern" as far as I can tell, but it is not disorganized. Almost all of the buildings in this town are beautiful. The buildings in this town qualify as attractions.
Something I need to mention about this city, is that it is dangerous. Very dangerous. It is almost like Elm Creek, due to the fact that in many areas if you fall off of a walkway, balcony, or patch of grass, you will die. The city even has a pit that was hand made, where if you fell in, you would be absolutely dead. On top of the heights, mobs are common in the city at night. While you wont get blown up in your house by Creepers, I did spot mobs at night, while taking screenshots. There are plans to make the city even MORE dangerous, by making the town more vertical.
This city is not for those who do not like a bit of danger.
Attractions: The beautiful buildings
PROS and CONS
PROS: Beautiful, dangerous (for the danger lovers), well built (NOTE: This list may be a bit small, but the things listed are very obvious, and amazing. It is sort of quality over quantity)
CONS: Distance from spawn (if you do not like long walks)
Verdict for the city: Sparta is a small town, and more an outpost of The Empire than it is a city. Still, it is beautiful, well built, and appears to be a wonderful place to live (provided you know the few people who live here). It is dangerous, it is Roman, and it is awesome. Unfortunately, its distance from just about everything makes visiting this town a dumb idea. The trip takes forever, it is dangerous, and the reward is not worth the effort.
SCREENSHOTS:
thee_pro's home
Center of town
Fountain in the center of town
Pit of death
A little look at the secret storage
Well, that is all for this episode. I hope you guys enjoyed it. Peace.
