Hello and welcome to another long overdue installment of Get to Know a Gamer! This week's feature gamer is that_taco_guy, but you can call him "taco." Currently exiled in Ecuador, taco spends his time dreaming about tacos, making a texture pack, and recreating the film "Raiders of the Lost Ark" using lizards he's found and dresses up. Without further ado, here's taco:
1. You seem to have a thing for tacos. What started your almost clinical obsession with the flour-wrapped concoction?
Have you had a Cheesy Gordita Crunch?
No?
It's a hard taco outlined with cheese and a soft taco.
It's the best thing you've ever tasted.
And the Baha sauce... oooohhhhhh....
If you haven't had one, go to your nearest Taco Bell and ask for one.
It's the best thing you'll ever taste. EVER. IN YOUR LIFE.
The story behind my name though, is kinda different.
I was in a school Christmas play, it was a "summer" themed play.
I was supposed to play a crab.
Lets just say that my costume didn't really look like a crab.
It was horrible.
It looked like... you guessed it...
A Taco.
It was brown, and ugly as hell.
Apparently, my classmate's sister noticed this... and soon came out the nickname "Taco Boy."
After a few adaptations, some underscores, and some Hispanic flavoring, I came up with:
"that_taco_guy".
2. How did you find Team9000?
Minecraft.
Seriously, I found T9k through that game we all know and love, Minecraft Classic.
I became addicted and so DESPERATELY wanted to become a builder.
[sarcasm]My first experience on the server was the greatest one in the universe, thanks to JerzeyLegend.[/sarcasm]
I was so intent on getting the gold, I accidentally griefed a sign that someone made.
If you check the logs waaaaay back, you can find my first kick was for "grief-h Sign" by, yep, JerzeyLegend.
Anyway... onto the next question.
3. You're in Ecuador right now. What's it like there? Are you from there originally?
Ecuador is the greatest place in the world.
The people are nice, the food is AMAZING, stuff is hella cheap... but... there's one problem.
Technology is EXPENSIVE AS HELL, as well as Internet.
I am not from here originally, but my dad is.
I'm hoping to move back when I go to college though, but if anyone is thinking about retiring, Vilcabamba, Ecuador is the place, man.
4. You've created a texture pack for Minecraft. Where did you get the idea? How long did it take for you to get it the way you wanted it?
TacoCraft came from an idea looooong ago formulated back when I was in the States. It was just going to be a texture pack, and it was going to be simple as hell.
Then I moved to a new apartment.
My brain LITERALLY couldn't handle not being on the internet. I was going insane.
I started working on TacoCraft 24/7 basically, while listening to The Shaft Podcast. (heh. Shaft.)
And so... TacoCraft 2.0 was birthed, from the rubble of disconnection.
So to answer your second question, about 2 weeks.
5. What are your 5 favorite video games?
I'm not including Minecraft in this. It's obvious we ALL love it.
And so... I present...

Capitan Viridian is a badass. You know it's true.

I had some things come up in work that took up more of my time, which has now been resolved, and my wife and I found out not too long ago that we're having a baby, so I've been consumed with watching after her (my wife) and tending to her every need.
