Texture Pack Reviews: TacoCraft

Welcome to the very first entry in this series, a set of demonstrations and reviews of different texture packs. What better one to start with than our very own TacoCraft? Keep in mind, this is a new series, so feel free to post things to make it better in the future! Also, I'd like to thank rsmv2you for being kind enough to make a video for this.

TacoCraft was created to emphasize blockiness, and to be just plain awesome. The TacoFoodBar™ is a great example of this.

TacoCraft Texture Review

Good Parts of TacoCraft
I'll start on a very fun note, with an error that existed in the 1.4 version of TacoCraft, in which sponges gave you xray vision, also known as 1337hax0rSPONGES.

This was patched in the most recent edition.

Anyway, I absolutely love the wood in TacoCraft, it gives a feeling I have't seen in any other texture pack, giving the feeling of the grain in wood, and not like manufactured planks. Also, all the brown objects look amazing, like the leathery chest, the doors, the lacquered wood, and the fluffy sand.

The ores also are great, you'll never miss them again. Often when looking for coal on the side of a mountain, I don't see the ores until later when I wasted wood making charcoal. Never miss those precious ores again with TacoCraft!

Also, as shown here on Paradise Island, the brick textures give a retro, bright red and bone white feeling reminiscent of old video games and Minecraft Classic.

Also, there's delicious chocolate cake and a creepy creeper bed!

On the matter of that cake, the cake used to be a lie- it showed white cake in your inventory but turned into chocolate! In the most recent version, this was fixed, and you now get a little chocolate cake sprite.

Also, one of my very favorite parts of the pack is the ice and moss stone textures.
These are just plain amazing. The ice is very clear, and I prefer it to glass for windows while building in creative. It has a nice blue edge, with frosty sides, leading to a clearish area in the middle.

The moss stone has a very dank and mossy feel to it, which I LOVE. It looks just like the slightly slimy dungeons of old.

Also, the TacoFoodBar™!

What happens when you run out of tacos...

Problems With TacoCraft
For the most part, TacoCraft is fairly flawless, considering it's still being made, but there is a single issue, the appearance of gravel vs. stone. The two are very similar, and while mining one could waste pickaxe uses or suffocate. To lighten up the suddenly dark tone I added cake.

What I Hope to See in the Future of TacoCraft
Simply put, more tacos. That_Taco_Guy set out to create a very blocky texture pack (Look at the trees!), and he accomplished just that. He still needs to work on the items, though, including tacos!

None of these things should be as they are. The bread must be a taco, the steak ground beef, and the fish a fish taco. MOAR TACOS PL0X!

TacoCraft is a really fun texture pack to use, and even though it is still a work in progress, it is still a very fun pack to use. I leave you with this.

What texture pack should I do next? Tell in the comments!

And for teh lulz, here's Donvittorio in Quazymoodo's bed.
