Why should I have saved my bin?

I had to delete my bin when my Minecraft black screened over a mod. Am I screwed?

Saving a copy of your bin allows you to downgrade quickly. Just cut and paste out the 1.5 bin, and copy and paste in the 1.4_01 bin.
