The chests being empty wasn't my decision and you have to explore to find the crystals.

Well you still have to explore (travel around typing /scan). Admittedly you don't need to mine to find a dungeon though.

I'm sure you could do it with the McEdit code, but the server would probably have to be offline to do it, and it'd probably take hours or more! Hours of precious play time!
